Century 5 keyed, bone mounted boxwood “C” clarinet from Meacham & Company, Albany NY.
This lovely piece dates to c. 1820.
According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), which possesses a rare bassoon from Meacham & Company, John Meacham Jr. was one of the earliest musical instrument makers in the United States.
Along with his brother, Meacham began manufacturing instruments in Albany, NY in 1810 under the name Meacham &Company. In 1828, Meacham joined with Sylvanus Pond and the company became known as Meacham and Pond.
This unique piece is in fair to good condition – one of the brass keys is broken and the bone bell ring is cracked.
The four bone rings are in good condition.
